This weeks news post is geared towards telling you all about GU10’s, what they are used for and the different types we stock.
GU10 LED’s are also sometimes referred to as spot lights, down-lights or down-lighters. They are small circular bulbs that are usually set inside the ceiling but they can also be used in various types of spot lamps. You’ll find them mainly in kitchens and bathrooms but can be used anywhere as an elegant lighting solution. GU10’s are some of the most popular LED’s in the U.K and they are certainly great sellers here at Ledlam.
GU10 bulbs are technically classed as MR Reflector bulbs, the initials MR stand for multifaceted reflector. They are more commonly known as GU10’s, which refers to the base type and this is the trick to telling them apart from other MR16’s. GU10’s have two connectors that look like small bolts, whilst the GU5.3’s have two needle like pins instead. GU10’s are easily installed by a twist and lock mechanism to secure the bulb into it’s fitting.
GU10 Halogen Replacements
Ledlam LED GU10 bulbs are a direct replacement for halogen GU10’s, they offer the same dimensions and will fit any GU10 size fittings. Our LED’s are highly energy efficient and use far less power than the typical 50W halogens, our lowest wattage bulb uses only 2.5W of energy!
Beam Angles and Spot Lights
The beam angle is the spear of light that a bulb provides. Sometimes a narrow beam angle is the right choice, they can be used to highlight certain features or areas. They are sometimes referred to as ‘Spot lights’. GU10 bulbs with a wide beam angle are usually used to light an area evenly as the wide beam angles provide wide smooth lighting without shadows. This makes them the most popular and widely used GU10’s today.
All of our wide beam angle GU10 bulbs come with a milky or frosted cover to conceal the onboard led chips, providing a modern simple look.
Ledlam offers a wide range of GU10 bulbs. From 2.5W all the way to 8W, wide beam angles and narrow. On top of this, each one of our GU10’s are available in 3 different colour temperatures. with great choice such as this, you should find what you need easily!
Ledlam offers not only warm white (yellowish) and cool white (pure white) colour temperatures as other brands do. We also offer our day white colour as well which lies between the warm and cool. Because day light offers a similar temperature to natural sun light, the day white is the most popular colour to use everywhere where a natural looking light is essential.
